Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu, Inc. opened the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) Clubs with a kick-off last August 8, 2018 at the new gymnasium.
The Salesian Youth Movement is a related combination of groups and associations that have a relationship to Don Bosco, his pedagogy and his spirituality. Its aim is to help the young people progress in knowledge, understanding, and the sharing of the values of the Salesian Youth Spirituality (SYS) of Don Bosco himself. The SYM prepares the young to become good Christians and honest citizens.
The SYM was founded on the centenary of the death of St. John Bosco, the father and founder of the Salesian family. It was through his passion for the young that this movement was created. The SYM is present in every country in which there are activities of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, and laity who have been educated by them. Its motto is “YOUTH SERVING YOUTH!”.
The clubs of the SYM are the sodalities and interest clubs. The sodalities are the religious clubs such as the Juventus, Savio Friends, Biblos, KOA and Auxilium. These clubs serve to make the young closer to Jesus. On the other hand, as the sodalities are not for all the youngsters, there are the interest clubs. These clubs are the academic clubs, book lovers, dance club, scouts, gaming club, environment club, etc. However, the SYS is still applied within these clubs.
The year was filled with various activities with the different clubs. The SYS of Don Bosco continues on with the young people, especially to the Bosconians. The SYM Clubs ended with touch-down last March 27, 2019 at the DBTC New Gymnasium.
