Once again, DBTC hosts the annual Fun Run wherein students and their families run together in the different categories. The event was held in the early hours of Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Students, teachers, parents and other guests gathered in the quadrangle for the checking of attendance, followed by an assembly and stretching exercises in order to prepare the muscles for the fun run.

Runners of each category gathered at the front gate in order to start their run. The 12K category runners started first and those of the lower categories consequently started their own run after waiting for a certain amount of time.

The fun run was divided into four categories: 3K, 6K, 9K and 12K. The 3K category was for Grades 1-3 who were accompanied by their parent or guardian; the 6K category was for Grades 4-6 who were also accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Grades 7-9, on the other hand, took the 9K category; while Grades 10-12 took the 12K category. The fun run was never limited to just the students and, as such, Salesian priests and teachers, along with other employees, staff and guests joined in the fun choosing the category which they wanted to run.

Many of them ran the 12K route along with the Grades 10-12 students, opting for a little bit of challenge.

In order to make the fun run smoother, some DBTC race marshals together with the Cebu City Traffic Operations and Management (CITOM) were present in different points in the routes in order to control traffic and keep watch of the runners for their safety; runners also had to take precautions in order to avoid accidents.

Water stations were also available along the route to refresh the runners as they go along.

While the fun run was enjoyable for everyone, there were still prizes for the top 3 of each category that were dominated by our athletes. The first place finishers of each category included:

For 3k– John Roma

For 6k– Alistair Manlosa

For 9k– Chris Hernando

For 12k :

Male Category – Antonio Albin Tabay

Female Category – Ma. Tricia Taclob

Open Category – Eric Chipsiror

It was a tiring but exciting event for everyone.

Though the pandemic has canceled the 2020 Fun Run, it’s good to reminisce about the previous one and look forward to the next DBTC Fun Run, soon.
